TRVK, YADADRI BHUVANAGIRI FIELD DAY ON HDPS COTTON CUM DEMONSTRATION OF COTTON SHREDDER

Telangana Rythu Vigyan Kendra(TRVK),PJTAU, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri District conducted a field day on high density planting system (HDPS)in cotton on 22nd November 2025 at the field of farmer Sri. Mandhadi Siddhareddy in Chandhupatla village, Bhuvanagiri Mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri District. The event was conducted as part of a special project by the Central Institute of Cotton Reasearch (ICAR-CICR), Nagpur. At the out set of the field day the cotton shredder was demonstrated with support of Farm implements and machinery scheme PJTAU, Rajendranagar and discussion on the Cotton Shredder machine, the benefits of incorporating cotton residues into the soil using the shredder, as opposed to the harmful practice of burning cotton stalks, were explained to the farmers, emphasizing improved soil health. On this occasion, Dr. P. Rajaiah, Principal Scientist and Head Farm implements and Machinery Research, Rajendranagar comprehensively educated the farmers about the Cotton Shredder machine and the benefits of using it." Dr. D. Sreelatha, Principal scientist and Coordinator of TRVK Yadadri Bhuvanagiri addressed gathering and breifed about the project details and incentives offered by Central Government @5000/- as a direct benefit to the farmer adopted HDPS Cotton during Kharif 2025-26. She elaborated the benefits of this method like control of Pink bollworm, harvesting of cotton crop in 1 or 2 pickings saves labour, usage of short duration varities gives opportunity for second Crop. Furthermore, farmers can expect yields of 9 to 13 quintals per acre. Farmer Sri. Mandhadi Siddhareddy shared his positive experience with HDPS cotton. Young professionals Venu, Rupa, Rajesh, Bhanu Chander and progress farmers and more than 80 cotton farmers participated in the field day. Subsequently, the farmers visited the high-density cotton crop and witnessed a live demonstration of the Cotton Shredder machine and expressed positive response.
