The Maize Research Unit (MRU), Agricultural Research Institute (ARI), Rajendranagar organized an Input Distribution-cum-Farmer Training Programme on Maize Cultivation and Zero Tillage Maize for SC farmers on 05.03.2026 under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) 2025–26 at Rudraram village, Kodangal Mandal, Vikarabad district. Dr. R. Susheela, Principal Scientist (Agronomy) & Head, MRU, ARI, Hyderabad, addressed the gathering and briefed the farmers about the objectives of the SCSP scheme. She emphasized the importance of zero tillage maize cultivation, maize cultivation after cotton, and the need for crop diversification to enhance farm productivity and sustainability. Dr. D. Sravani, Scientist (Plant Breeding), explained the maize hybrids released from the maize research unit and highlighted improved maize production technologies. Dr. Ch. Anusha, Scientist (Entomology), explained integrated pest and disease management strategies in maize with special emphasis on the management of Fall Armyworm (FAW), Pink Stem Borer, and Post-Flowering Stalk Rot. Dr. T. Rajeshwar Reddy, Coordinator, TRVK, Parigi, briefed the farmers about the various extension activities of PJTAU. Dr. Madhusekhar, Scientist (Crop Production), TRVK, Parigi, explained the management practices for Rabi crops. As part of the programme, tarpaulins were distributed to 50 Scheduled Caste farmers. A total of 50 farmers along with Agricultural Officer (AO) and Agricultural Extension Officers (AEOs) participated in the programme. The programme concluded with an interactive session where farmers clarified their queries with the scientists.
