KVK, Palem in collaboration with RARS, Palem conducted a Diagnostic field visit to paddy fields at Balmoor Village and Mandal, Nagarkurnool District on 11.04.2025. A complaint was raised by the farmers viz., Sri. M. Surendhar Rao, Sri. B. Thirupataiah, Sri. C. Eeshwaraiah, Sri. G. Lingaiah, Sri. J. Balaraju and Sri.S.Satyam regarding poor quality of paddy seed of Sanjeevini variety Mfg by M/s. Palamoor Seed Pvt. Ltd and purchased from retailer M/s. Mani Hari Sai Traders, Balmoor. At the time of team visit to the fields, the crop was at panicle initiation stage and the crop was already completed 125 days duration. The crop should be ready for harvest by now, but it is still in panicle initiation stage. The farmers have sown long duration variety recommended by the trader and it is not suitable for Rabi season under late sown conditions and the variety (Sanjeevani) performed susceptibility against all the pest and diseases. The team made a close observation of complained variety (Sanjeevini) and compared them with other adjacent non-complaint paddy fields of Telangana sona (RNR 15048) that have grown under same package of practices. In the same location non complaint fields where early variety Telangana sona was opted, the crop was good and all the insect pests were below ETL. The crop is ready for harvesting. Severe infestation of stem borer, blast, Zn deficiency and moderate incidence of BPH was observed in complained variety. Further Sulphide injury was also noticed as plants in patches were rotten and foul smell was observed. Mild salinity was also noticed in the field. Farmers have taken up control measures to control by spraying Propiconazole @ 1ml/ lit, Tricyclazole + Plantamycin, Silica and Plant growth promoters as per the recommended dosages. However, still the majority of the field was observed with one or the other above-mentioned stresses. In this visit Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, PC, KVK, Palem, Dr. K. Pavan (AEO- Balmoor), Sri. Ratnarao (AEO-Kondanagula), Sri. B. Thirupataiah, Sri. C. Eeshwaraiah, Smt. Ch. Ramulamma, Sri. Satyanarayana, Sri. M. Surendhar Rao, Sri. G. Lingaiah, Sri. J. Balaraju and Sri. S. Satyam of Balmoor village & Mandal a total of 23 members were participated.
