Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Adilabad organized a Kisan Mela cum Agricultural Exhibition on 25.02.2026, with active participation of around 700 farmers from different mandals of the district. The programme aimed at disseminating advanced agricultural technologies, particularly High Density Planting System (HDPS) in cotton. Dr. Harish Kumar Sharma, Associate Director of Research, Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), North Telangana Zone, and Dr. Arjun Tayade, Chief Nodal Officer from ICAR–Central Institute for Cotton Research (CICR), Nagpur, along with Dr. Ramakrishna, Senior Scientist, Dr. N. Rama Gopala Varma, Programme Coordinator, Dr. Y. Praveen Kumar, Associate Dean, Dr. Sreedhar Chouhan, Head, ARS, District Agriculture Officer, DDM, NABARD, Scientists from KVK and ARS, Faculty, Officers and NGO representatives graced the occasion. The dignitaries elaborated on scientific crop management practices in cotton, emphasizing the benefits of HDPS in achieving higher productivity and enhanced net returns. The experts highlighted that yield performance in cotton is significantly influenced by climatic factors, rainfall distribution and appropriate hybrid selection. They stressed that adoption of scientific agronomic management practices can result in substantially higher yields compared to conventional spacing methods. The event concluded with visits to various technology stalls, visiting drone sown sesamum field and a live field demonstration of pesticide spraying using drone technology, showcasing precision agriculture in action.
