Conducted Ksian Mela on High Density Planting System in Cotton under ICAR-CICR, Special project on Cotton on 25.03.2023 at KVK, Adilabad. As part of this, the chief guest of the programme Dr. M. Yakadri, Director of Extension, PJTAU, Hyderabad, and Dr. V. Shanthi, Principal Scientist (Seed Science & Technology), ICAR-CICR, Nagpur, Dr. D. Sreelatha, ADR, NTZ, Dr. Sreedhar Chouhan, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Adilabad, Dr. B. Ramprasad, Principal Scientist & Head, ARS, Adilabad and Representative from Department of Agriculture, Adilabad, Agriculture College, Adilabad, ARS, KVK scientists, NGOs, Private companies representatives and more than 700 farmers were attended. Dr. Y Praveen Kumar, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Program Coordinator briefed about high density planting system approach in cotton and canopy management and its importance and demonstrations carried out by the KVK, Adilabad across the district covering 226 acres with 118 farmers. With this technology it is possible to harvest 10 – 12 quintals of cotton per acre. Dr. M. Yakadri, Director of Extension, PJTAU, Hyderabad explained about the crop management practices in HDPS is a yield improvement method especially in marginal/ light soils & also suggested the farmers to adopt HDPS in larger area in coming years. Dr. D. Sreelatha, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Jagtial emphasized that, farmers should adopt cotton followed by Sesamum, Groundnut on crop rotation basis for cotton yields improvement. Dr. V. Shanthi, Principal Scientist (Seed Science & Technology), ICAR-CICR, Nagpur, expressed that it is a method to avoid pink bollworm infestation which is causing 30 – 40 % damage to cotton. Farmers feedback session conducted on HDPS technology in Cotton. The programme hosted more than 700 participants includes farmers, Scientists, district officials from line department, Rural entrepreneurs, NGO and Private companies. 20 stalls set up and displayed various primary and secondary agricultural farm machinery implements. Farmers and Scientists visited the demonstration on HDPS in KVK, Adilabad instructional farm.
