KVK, Malyal conducted a Field Day on “Direct Seeded Rice” under DAPST (Tribal Sub Plan), 2024-25 at Ootla Village of Gudur Mandal on 27-03-2025. On this occasion, the host farmer Sri Guguloth Nehru shared his experiences in direct seeded Rice in terms of labour saving, seed rate saving, weed management, fertilizer management and occurrence of low pest & diseases compared with normal transplanting. Subsequently, some farmers – Sri Guguloth Lachhiram and Smt. Guguloth Susheela also shared their experiences in Direct Seeded technology. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator appraised the farmers in the village for adoption of this technology from 1 acre area to 80% of Paddy area in both the seasons. She requested to the farmers to achieve 100% Paddy area under this technology in the village and become model village in the district. She also requested the farmers to take up Sunhemp seed production in Paddy fallow during Yasangi season to become self sufficient as well as to supply neighbouring farmers which is useful for incorporation of Green manure crops preceding to Paddy and Chilli crops. She wished the technologies which were demonstrated by KVK, Malyal in this village like Direct Seeded Paddy, IPM in Chilli and Sunhemp seed production in Paddy fallow should be continued and inspire to neighbouring villages. Sri A. Srinivasrao, ADA, Mahabubabad appraised the farmers for successful adoption of different technologies demonstrated by KVK, Malyal under Tribal Sub Plan Project. He also requested the farmers to focus on agriculture allied sectors like Honeybee rearing, preparation of Laddu’s from Mahua flowers, Backyard poultry and Buffalo Dairy for income generation. Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture), Md. Abdul Malik, MAO, Gudur, Smt. Alekhya, AEO, Gudur cluster, Sri Manoj Kumar, AEO, Boddugonda cluster and 64 farmers and farm women from Ootla & Saraswathi nagar of Gudur Mandal participated in the programme.
