DAATTC, Tornala organized Field day cum Awareness programme on “Greengram preceding to Rice fallows" on 24.06.2025

Field day cum Awareness programme on “Green gram preceding to rice fallows” was organised by DAATTC, Tornala at Peddagundavelly village, Dubbaka mandal, Siddipet District on 24.06.2025. Dr. Ch. Pallavi, Scientist (CP) highlighted the importance of green gram cultivation, its role in improving the fertility of soil by the addition of organic carbon and also emphasized farming community about the scope of pulses area expansion with suitable varieties which can be adopted in different cropping systems. He also emphasized on the importance of greengram in N fixation and improving soil fertility due to its leguminous nature and also green manuring before kharif rice. Later, Farmers Bitla Narsimhulu and N. Karunakar Reddy, has expressed their opinion on the green gram preceding to rice as the income generated from the green gram can be utilized for cultivation costs of succeeding paddy crop too. 15 farmers have participated in the programme.
