Breeder Seed monitoring team visited Seed Production fields of Maize Inbred Line BML 6 at Main Farm, ARI, Rajendranagar on 25.02.2026.

Dr. D. Bhadru, Principal Scientist (Maize & Millets), visited the maize breeder seed production fields of BML 6 at the Main farm, ARI, Rajendranagar on 25.02.2026 along with Smt. C. Susmitha, Scientist (Plant Breeding), Winter Nursery Centre, ICAR-IIMR, Hyderabad, Dr. K. Sukumar, Principal Scientist (Plant Breeding), SRTC, Rajendranagar, Sri M. Shivakumar, Assistant Director of Seed Certification, Telangana State Seed Certification Agency (TGSCOA),Hyderabad, Smt. Rubeena Afrin, Regional Manager, Telangana State Seeds Development Corporation (TGSDC), Hyderabad, and Smt. Anjali, Regional Manager (Production), National Seeds Corporation , secundrabad. During the field visit, Dr. D. Sravani, Scientist (Plant Breeding), MRU, Rajendranagar briefed the team on the breeder seed production programme and explained the morphological characteristics and distinguishing features of BML 6. The team closely examined crop stand, genetic uniformity, flowering behaviour, and overall field condition, and expressed satisfaction with the quality of breeder seed production being maintained. During the interaction, Dr. D. Bhadru, Principal Scientist (Maize & Millets) emphasized the high yield potential of BML 6 as a valuable parental line and highlighted its contribution to maize hybrids released in the nationwide and he also stressed the need to undertake large-scale seed production of these promising hybrids to ensure timely availability of quality seed to farmers and to support their wider commercialization. Dr. R. Susheela, Principal Scientist (Agro) & Head, MRU, ARI, Rajendranagar , Dr. Y. Chandra Mohan, Director, Agricultural Research Institute (ARI), Rajendranagar also participated in the monitoring visit and appreciated the systematic efforts in maintaining high standards of breeder seed production.
